FAQs

  1. What is this MozFest Bug all about?
MozFest Bug is a game you can play via Twitter. Through this game we encourage you to document and evaluate what you've seen, heard, learned and talked about during the Mozilla Festival. While doing all this, you'll also compete against other MozFest bugs. For glory (and some prizes – to be announced).
  2. How do I play?
To play, tweet using the hashtag #MozFest. Don't forget to include pictures, links, videos, audios, illustrations, sketches, wireframes, mind-maps, texts etc.
  3. How can I engage participants to document my session or presentation?
At the beginning of your session, tell your participants about MozFest Bug and why it's important. Here are a couple of reasons but you are welcome to add in yours:
    • All tweets tagged with #MozFest will be archived in the #MozFest database, together with any links, pictures, mentions and additional hashtags they contain. This means that they won't get lost in the sea of Twitter. We'll open-source the #MozFest dataset, so that anyone will be able to use it for data-visualization, data-mining or any other data-fun they may have in mind.
    • MozFest Bug is a social game: the more #MozFest tweets, the more points you score!
Tell your participants what formats you want them to capture your session and to share their contributions. MozFest Bug will archive any URLs included in the tweets (so that people can link to short videos, audio recordings, illustrations, sketches, wireframes, mind-maps, texts..), as well as image sources (that is, pictures directly added to a tweet, as opposed to links to external services such as Instagram, Flickr etc.)
If you have a specific #hashtag that you want your participants to use together with #MozFest, make sure to tell your participants about it. All tweets tagged with #MozFest will be archived in the open-source database, and we'll then be able to aggregate #MozFest tweets with any other hashtags that have been used in conjunction. This means that we'll be able to extract your session-specific tweets.
  4. Can I play if I'm not at the Mozilla Festival?
Yes, participation to MozFest Bug is open to everyone. All you need is an internet connection and a Twitter account.
  5. Can I add pictures from Instagram?
Yes please! You can use this handy recipe from IFTTT to automagically post your #mozfest grams straight to Twitter, with photo included!

  7. What do I win?

  8. I just tweeted using #MozFest and my name didn't appear on the leaderboard. What the heck?
